Grace Hopper Notes
Hey Ladies! If you attended the Grace Hopper Conference this past week and took notes on any of the talks, please post them on the Grace Hopper Wiki! You will not only be helping fellow CSters, but computer science women all over the country and the world.
If you didn't get a chance to attend the conference missed a talk, you can still have the opportunity to learn about new technology, women's issues, or even important study skills such as time management by checking out the wiki!
There were a lot of very interesting talks and many were quite inspirational. Including the talk by Sheryl Sandberg. You can see her ted talk here.

Spring Semester!
It's the start of a new semester! CSters will be having our first lunch meeting of this semester on Thursday January 20 at Duncan Hall room 2014. We will be brainstorming and discussing possible fun activities for this semester! As always, lunch will be provided.
Once again, we are trying to design a t-shirt for our club. If you have made any kind of sketches for the t-shirt design, bring them to the lunch meeting this Thursday. Don't be shy! The sooner we nail down on a design, the faster we can get our hands on the lovely t-shirts. If not this Thursday, the following Thursday. You are always welcome to email your designs to any of the officers. Our contact information can be located at the "Officers" tab.
Now for some scholarship announcements. The Anita Borg Scholarship deadline is approaching! We are encouraging all undergraduate seniors and graduate students to apply! Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity. For more information regarding this and other scholarship opportunities go to the "links" tab.
Finally, we will be welcoming a speaker from Google to our lunch talks on Thursday January 27! Details will be determined. As always, for all upcoming events, please refer to the "calendar" section.
Grace Hopper Conference 2010
Members of CSters club recently attended the 2010 Grace Hopper Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The experience was truly inspiring. The girls met numerous amazingly talented, enthusiastic, and strong women in technology such as Fran Allen and Barbara Liskov who are two of the Turing Award winners (nobel prize for computer science). Besides attending cool technical workshops, Grace Hopper Conference also offered numerous career development, undergraduate, and graduate oriented workshops for students. On top of that, a career fair also took place. Many top companies in the technical industry were present and seeking computer science students! The most fun part for me is probably meeting all the interesting ladies from all different kinds of backgrounds. The 2000 plus attendees for this conference came from 29 different countries! This Thursday (October 14, 2010), the girls who attended the conference are all eagered to share the wonderful experiences they had with everyone. So please join us at Duncan Hall 3076 for a casual lunch. Food will be provided. What's more, we have free t-shirts to give away as well as other goodies from the conference! As always, we welcome new faces. See everyone Thursday!
